Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026
Who we are
This policy applies to "Home Assistant Backup", a private application operated by Edwin van de Pavert (contact: e.vandepavert@gmail.com).
What Google user data is accessed
The application requests access to Google Drive only to create, read and delete the backup files that the owner's Home Assistant installation itself creates. With the scope used by the Home Assistant Google Drive integration, the application can only see files it created in its own "Home Assistant" folder. It cannot see or change any other files in Google Drive.
How the data is used
Backup files are uploaded to, listed in, downloaded from and removed from the owner's Google Drive, solely to keep backups of the owner's own Home Assistant system and to restore it when needed.
Storage and sharing
The data stays in the owner's own Google Drive and on the owner's own Home Assistant device. No data is sold, shared with or transferred to third parties, and no data is used for advertising, analytics or profiling. This website itself does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.
Limited Use
The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing access
Access can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by removing the Google Drive integration in Home Assistant. Backup files can be deleted from Google Drive at any time.
